Copies of Island Voices have now arrived back in Orkney. Unpacked quickly they were rapidly distributed into Orkney 2025 Island Games volunteer bags and have begun to be distributed through the community. I have already had a number of folk asking how they get a copy. However, the books are not for sale. They are a gift for all volunteers, participants and contributors. I have already gifted copies to Orkney Libraries and all the pieces are also available to read online on the Orkney Museums website.
Soon I will begin to package and send copies to places as far away as St Helena and The Falkland Islands. As I described the process to someone they remarked on the journey that the competitors from St Helena had to take years ago – first a boat to South Africa then a flight to wherever the games were taking place. Now that’s commitment. It makes my hesitancy to step out into the rain to distribute posters seem rather puny.
Oh, well. At least I can share the launch poster on-line. Rain or shine.
Everyone is welcome to join the celebration and then stay for a fantastic insight from Brian Cromarty into the process of creating a soundscape in St Magnus Cathedral for the games.
